Sunrise Day Nursery (Langley) Limited is housed in a charming 1840 Kentish ragstone building surrounded by an acre of secluded grounds.
It was founded in 1976 as Sunrise Independent Pre-Prep School. In September 1993, the premises were purchased by Julie Starns who transferred her existing nursery, Jack & Jill Montessori, and merged with the remaining children of Sunrise Independent School. The facilities were extended to offer full day nursery care.
Since receiving many enquiries from working parents with much younger children, we realised that very few nurseries catered for babies. Our Baby Unit was therefore established on 1st February, 1994.
The nursery is open 51 weeks a year, from 8.00am to 5.30pm. We offer morning or full day sessions throughout the year. Mornings run until 11.45pm in our Baby Unit and 12.15 pm for 2 1/2 years +. We also offer a 'school day' until 3.15pm. Free Early Education Entitlement is available to all children in the term after their 3rd birthday (see Additional Information).
Children are welcome into our Baby Unit from 6 months old and normally move on to our Toddler Unit around 18 months. We have a maximum of 6 babies with a ratio of 1:3 and a maximum of 8 toddlers with a ratio of 1:4 for those over 2.
Children are welcomed into our Nursery class at approximately 2 1/2 years of age. It is preferable for children to be reliably toilet trained before joining this class. At approximately 3 1/2 years of age children move to our Early Years class to prepare for the transition to Reception class.
